This is my Hector moveset. As always, I would very much appreciate it if you would tell me what you think about it.

Hector hectors his foes! Hector is a lord from Fire Emblem Blazing Sword, and unlike other Fire Emblem characters he wields an axe in battle instead of a sword. This brings some more uniqueness to his moveset than other characters from the Fire Emblem series.

Attributes[]

Strengths[]

  • Most moves have large disjointed hitboxes that gives them very high priority
  • Good range on attacks gives Hector good spacing tools
  • High damage output on tilts, jab, smash attacks, and aerials
  • Kill moves: third hit of jab, up tilt, forward tilt, forward smash, up smash, down smash, up aerial, down aerial, forward aerial, back aerial, forward throw, Leaping Strike
  • Possesses four meteor smashes: down aerial, forward aerial, back aerial, descending attack of Leaping Strike
  • Neutral special Great Shield trips opponents on the ground and sends them into tumble in the air, making it useful for gimps, kill set-ups, and as a defensive measure
  • Good grab game
  • Good ground game
  • Brave Axe is great at continuing combos and can cancel out of any other attacks
  • Leaping Strike is good for vertical recovery
  • Hand Axe is a projectile with good speed and range
  • Heavyweight, having high survivability

Weaknesses[]

  • Slow speed on the ground
  • Due to weight of the axe, most moves have some starting and ending lag
  • Below average jump height
  • Below average horizontal air movement
  • Low damage output on throws
  • Low grab range
  • High landing lag on aerials
  • Meteor smashes must sweetspot to spike
  • Below average air game
  • Great Shield is useless against grabs and negates momentum which can hurt recovery
  • Brave Axe cannot cancel out of special moves and leaves Hector helpless unless it was cancelled out of another move
  • Leaping Strike can SD if used too far from an edge or too close to an edge
  • Hand Axe is a small projectile that can be easy to dodge
  • Large hurtboxes makes him vulnerable to combos
  • Poor at juggling opponents

Moveset[]

Normal[]

◾Normal A- Hector kicks forwards, then does a short vertical axe slice, and then strikes forth with the head of the axe. 3%, 4%, 6%

Tilts[]

◾Up Tilt- Based on the start of his attack animation in Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword. Hector swings his axe overhead, starting from front to back. 11%

◾Down Tilt- Hector swings his axe low to the ground. 11%

◾Forward Tilt- A deft and powerful diagonal swing of Hector's axe. 14%

Smash Attacks[]

◾Up - Based on the Berserker critical hit animation in the GBA titles. Hector tosses his axe into the air above him; it spins around twice and then he grabs it and swings it overhead. Axe spin: 6-10% Axe swing: 14-16%

◾Forward - Based on Hector's ranged critical hit animation. Hector whirls his axe behind him and then thrusts it forwards. 24-30%

◾Down - Hector slams his axe downwards in front of him. 23-28%

Other attacks[]

◾Dash Attack - Hector hurls his axe forwards and then skids across the ground on his knees and grabs his axe in mid-air as he rises back to a standing position. 11% from axe, 4% from Hector while sliding

Aerial Attacks[]

◾Up aerial – Hector swings his axe straight upwards. 14%

◾Down aerial - Hector swings his axe underneath him and then slams it downwards. 6% first attack, 6% second attack

◾Neutral aerial - Based on the critical hit animation for Hector in Fire Emblem: Binding Blade. Hector whirls his axe in front of him and then behind him. 7% from first attack, 6% from second attack

◾Forward aerial – Hector swings his axe in a downwards arc in front of him. 14%

◾Back aerial - Based on the start of Hector's critical hit animation as a Great Lord in Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword. Hector swings his axe in a downwards arc behind him. 13%

Grabs and Throws[]

◾Pummel: Hector strikes the opponent on the head with the handle of his axe. 3% each hit

◾Forward Throw- Hector hurls his axe into the ground at the opponent's feet, pinning them to the ground for a moment, and then kicks them away, picking up his axe again as they are launched. 4%

◾Back Throw- Hector hurls the opponent backwards. 3%

◾Down Throw- Hector slams the opponent with his axe and then falls on top of them. 5%

◾Up Throw- Hector spins with the opponent twice and then hammer throws them skywards. 4%

Special Moves[]

◾Neutral Special- Great Shield: Works like a counter; when an enemy attack hits him while using this move, the 'No Damage' sound effect from Fire Emblem 7 will be heard and Hector will take no damage from the enemy attack; the opponent will stumble backwards and trip as their attack bounces harmlessly off of Hector; in the air, the opponent is forced into a tumble state as though they have been footstooled. After tripping or tumbling, Hector can attack them in a tech chase situation.

◾Side Special- Brave Axe: Hector dashes forwards a short distance and swings his axe forwards; it can cancelled into any other attack, making it an excellent combo tool or combo finisher at higher percentages. 8%

◾Up Special- Leaping Strike: Hector leaps high into the air in a slight arc and then does a descending strike with his axe. 15% from axe

◾Down Special- Hand Axe: Hector hurls a hand axe forwards that goes out a set distance before boomeranging back to him. 5% from each hit of the hand axe

◾Final Smash- Critical Hit: Hector whirls his axe overhead and then slams it on the ground behind him, after which he spins it around and then leaps up into the air and slams his axe into the ground in front of him; the first whirling move pulls opponents towards Hector, and the backwards hit will hit opponents behind him; after this any opponents that have been caught by either of the first two attacks will be hit by the subsequent ones until they are launched away by the final hit. 12% from whirling attack, 8% from backwards attack, 6% from spinning attack, and then 24% from the leaping attack

Skins/Costumes[]

Normal: Hector as he normally appears, with blue and dark blue armor and a red cape.

Red: Based on the color of enemy units in Fire Emblem, but also based on Eliwood. Red and orange armor with a blue cape.

Light Blue: Based on Lyndis. Light blue and blue armor and a green cape.

Green: Based on the color of ally units in Fire Emblem. Green and yellow armor and a dark green cape.

Orange: Based on Oswin. Orange and yellow armor and a light blue cape.

White: Based on Florina. White and blue armor with a purple cape.

Black: Based on Farina. Black and purple armor with a blue cape.

Purple: Based on Serra. Purple and golden armor and a black cape.

Taunts[]

Side Taunt: Hector hefts his axe onto one shoulder and says, 'Prepare yourself.'

Up Taunt: Hector holds his axe to his chest and then raises it over his head and says, 'Give it your all!'

Down Taunt: Hector points his axe forwards and says, 'Well met!'
