Yes, I know, it’s been a while, but I couldn’t decided on what moveset I’d do next. Recently, however, I purchased Gravity Rush 2, which I’ve been playing quite a lot of. So obviously, I was inspired to make a moveset for Gravity Rush’s protagonist Kat. So here you are; a moveset for Kat.


Play Style[]

Kat has a unique play style, focused around her Up Special, which allows her to shift gravity in various directions. With good use of this, a player can use the battlefield itself to their advantage in addition to just using it to move around. It should be noted, however, that all gravity type attacks (special moves, grab, etc.), will drain some of the Gravity Gauge next to Kat’s portrait. If it is depleted, you will be unable to use those techniques any more until it refills. Don’t worry, however, because the Gravity Gauge will refill within a few seconds of not using Gravity techniques.

Non Gravity attacks are all standard A attacks, and the majority of them are kicks. Use that to differentiate normal attacks from gravity attacks.

On the battlefield, the cat Dusty will follow Kat around. Dusty counts as a separate entity, and if an opponent manages to KO Dusty, Kat will be unable to use any Gravity powers until Dusty respawns in about 15-20 seconds.

Moveset[]

Standard[]

◾Neutral Attack: Kat delivers a fast kick. Press the button multiple times to perform several kicks. Each kick does 2% damage.

◾Forward Tilt: Kat performs a small front-flip and brings her heel down in front of her. Deals 5% damage.

◾Up Tilt: Kat kicks off the ground with one foot and delivers a high kick with the other foot. 4% damage.

◾Down Tilt: Kat crouches and kicks close to the ground. 4% damage.

◾Dash Attack: Kat quickly spins and pushes off the ground with her hands, letting her deliver a flying kick at the enemy. Has high end lag, but deals 7% damage and covers quite some distance.

Smash[]

◾Forward Smash: Kat delivers a powerful roundhouse kick. 10% uncharged, and 13% charged.

◾Up Smash: Kat performs a backflip, kicking above her in the process. 8% uncharged, and 11% charged.

◾Down Smash: Kat performs a low turning kick in front of her. 9% uncharged, and 12% charged.

Grab[]

◾Kat’s grab works differently to other characters. Holding down the Grab button will activate her stasis field ability, dragging in any nearby items and enemies. Press the grab button again while holding the control stick in a certain direction to toss one of the carried items in that direction. If no direction is pushed, it defaults to forward. Throwing an enemy does no damage by itself, but can do damage if they are thrown into a wall. You can also throw objects into enemies to deal damage.

Aerial[]

In reference to the core gameplay of Gravity Rush, Kat can’t actually do very much in the air without shifting gravity, and only has two moves; 1: A front kick that doesn’t have much power (2%), but is fast, and 2: A drop kick towards the ground. (does 6% damage). Luckily, you probably won’t be using either of these skills.

Special[]

◾Neutral Special: Gravity Typhoon. Kat will summon several boulders, which she will then proceed to fire them one at a time in the direction of the control stick. Each boulder deals 6% damage.

◾Side Special: Spiraling Claw. Kat will start spinning rapidly, before shooting forward in the direction of the control stick. You can still control it after this, however. Colliding with an enemy will deal 4% damage, and you can hit multiple times.

◾Up Special: Shift Gravity. Use this command once to begin floating. When floating, press the B button while pointing the control stick in a certain direction to shift gravity toward that direction, and Kat will fall that way. Press the B button while not touching the control stick to return to normal gravity. If you land on a surface when falling, you will be able to walk around on that surface, jump, use attacks, special attacks, and whatever else comes to mind without the gravity ever changing. The controller will align itself so that the control stick matches your position.

While floating, press the A button instead of the B button to perform a Gravity Kick, which is a moderately powerful attack, sending Kat in the direction of the kick. The greater distance you cross, the more powerful it will be, with it dealing 3% at point-black range to a maximum of 8% from afar.

You can continue shifting gravity as long as your gravity gauge is not empty. Just remember, however, that it will always be depleting while shifting gravity, so don’t do it for too long.

◾Down Special: Micro Black Hole. Kat will temporarily transform into a miniature black hole, which will suck enemies towards. If they come into contact, they will suffer 1% ever half-second, unless they can escape. The Micro Black Hole lasts about 6 seconds, and it drains quite a lot of the Gravity Gauge.

Final Smash[]

Panther Mode. Kat combines with Dusty to become a beast resembling a Panther. This effect lasts about 15 seconds, and while you can still take damage, you will be a lot faster and more powerful, and your attacks will home in on enemies.


(A/N: I wanted to include the different styles from GR2, but Smash simply doesn't have enough attack/special move slots to be able to do that. So there was a lot of missed potential, unfortunately).
