  1. The Nintendo booth at E3 2018 is jam-packed with fighters, weapons, items, and more from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!
  2. #65: Ridley - Joining the battle from the storied Metroid series, Ridley's long tail and sharp claws let him unleash a torrent of devastating attacks. His Final Smash is a powerful stream of plasma breath intense enough to bring down Samus's starship. Ridley's demo video
  3. Launch Star - If you touch the star, your fighter will be launched at high speed. Clever placement can lead to an easy KO!

June 14

  1. #13ᵋ: Daisy - Her basic move set is the same as Peach's, but this princess has her own unique personality. She's known for being upbeat, energetic, and a bit of a tomboy. Daisy's demo video

June 18

  1. #01: Mario - Mario is an all-around fighter who uses his wide variety of techniques to respond to any situation. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, he shows up in his Wedding tux and his Builder outfit, and Cappy even makes an appearance! Mario's demo video
  2. Battlefield - This stage is sporting a redesigned look. With vast natural vistas forming a stunning backdrop behind floating platforms, this stage truly deserves its name!
  3. Black Hole - Pulls fighters and items into its powerful gravity field. If someone throws a Black Hole in your direction, you'd better keep your distance!

June 19

  1. You can now listen to "Bomb Rush Blush" on the official Super Smash Bros. Ultimate website.
  2. Assist Trophy: Bomberman - Bomberman is a brand-new Assist Trophy, which means he's here to help you during battle. The bombs he leaves on the stage detonate in his iconic, cross-shaped pattern!

June 20

  1. #03: Link - Link has been redesigned to match his appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. He can now pick up arrows he's fired, and his bombs have been upgraded to remote bombs, so you can set them off when the timing is just right! Link's demo video

  1. #15: Ice Climbers - Back in the battle after a ten-year absence! There are two of them, so does that make them twice as strong as other fighters? Ice Climber's demo video

  1. #62: Corrin - Corrin was available as a downloadable fighter in the previous version of Super Smash Bros. This fighter uses all kinds of attacks, like Torrential Roar and Dragon Fang Shot. Players can choose male or female versions! Corrin's demo video

  1. #31: Snake - Back by popular demand, Snake brings a ranged fighting style unlike any other fighter in the game. His Final Smash locks onto an opponent and fires five homing missiles. Snake's demo video

  2. Assist Trophy: Sukapon - Attacking with his detached fists and feet, Sukapon can even pick up opponents and throw them.

  1. Pokémon: Solgaleo - If this Pokémon hits you as it charges back and forth across the stage, you'll take serious damage!
  2. Pokémon: Lunala - This Pokémon shoots a powerful light beam through the stage!

  1. #02: Donkey Kong - His charged punch is one of the strongest attacks in the game! In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, his Final Smash has been updated from Konga Beat to a flurry of punches! Donkey Kong's demo video


July 1

  1. #38: Sonic the Hedgehog - This speedy fighter has a lot of rush-type attacks. His final smash, Super Sonic, lets him fly around the stage at an incredible speed! Sonic the Hedgehog's demo video
  2. Assist Trophy: Knuckles - Knuckles attacks nearby fighters with his fist. He can also dig into the ground and then attack with an uppercut, so be careful!

July 2

  1. #20: Falco - He's a talented aerial fighter with amazing jumping ability, but Falco is a bit slower on the ground. His final smash is an all-out attack using an unorthodox formation of Arwings! Falco's demo video

July 3

  2. Kongo Falls - Face off against your foes atop a raft stuck at the edge of a waterfall. How well you utilize the rock jutting out at the bottom right can be the difference between victory or defeat!

July 4

  1. #22: Young Link - He's back after 17 years! Young Link is faster than Link but he's also lighter, making him easier to launch. Young Link's demo video
  2. Assist Trophy: Krystal - In addition to attacking with her staff, Krystal also uses Ice Blast to freeze fighters. Don't underestimate her!

July 5

  1. #33-35: Pokémon Trainer - The trainer returns with Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard. You can choose to play as a male or female trainer! Pokémon Trainer's demo video

  1. #21: Marth - Marth is an exceptional swordfighter with a long reach. He'll do the most damage with attacks using the tip of his sword, so spacing is an important factor. Marth's demo video

  1. #6: Kirby - Kirby's ability to copy fighters is totally unique! While he is light and can be launched easily, he can also jump up to five times in the air, so he has great recovery. Look for his new Stone transformation, too. Kirby's demo video

  2. Pokémon: Alolan Raichu - He rides his tail and rushes the enemy. Since he moves freely around the stage, Alolan Raichu may be a bit difficult to dodge.

July 11

  1. #46: Mega Man - Mega Man's standard and special moves use weapons copied from the bosses he's fought throughout the Mega Man series, so he has more projectiles than any other fighter. His Final Smash now features Proto Man and Bass! Mega Man's demo video

  1. #28: Pit - Pit is a well-balanced, well-rounded character with a defensive special that nullifies long distance attacks and excellent recovery. He's a great choice for new players! Pit's demo video

  1. #19: Pichu - Pichu is back after 17 years! Pichu's electric attacks have greater range and do more damage than its other attack types – but they also damage Pichu. Pichu's demo video

July 16

  1. Moray Towers - This is a stage from the Splatoon and Splatoon 2 games. Look closely for Judd and Li'l Judd. Judd will raise the flag with the color of the fighter or team currently in the lead.

July 17

  1. You can now listen to "Snake Eater". The original version was the opening theme song for Metal Gear Solid 3. This time it's an arrangement by Nobuko Toda!

July 18

  1. Wily Castle - Hazards from the previous games for both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U will appear on this stage. The Yellow Devil will cause a big explosion when it's defeated, but the player who landed the final attack doesn't take any damage. Use this to your advantage!
  2. #58: Bowser Jr. - The Jr. Clown Car this little fella rides in takes less damage when attacked than Bowser Jr. himself—so try to stay in the car when taking damage. The different color variations are the Koopalings! Bowser Jr.'s demo video

  1. Pokémon: Bewear - Bewear's more ferocious than it looks, with slow movement speed offset by very powerful attacks.

July 22

  1. #51-53: Mii Fighter (Brawler/Swordfighter/Gunner) - You can choose from the three types of Mii Fighter and select from a set of three specials for each type. You can also choose one of 12 voice options! Mii Fighter's demo video

  1. Great Plateau Tower - This is the tower everyone visits first in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The top part of the tower can be destroyed after taking damage, but will come back eventually. You can spot a certain Old Man in the background, watching over the match...

July 24

  1. You can now listen to "F-Zero Medley." Takenobu Mitsuyoshi arranged and also sang the song for this version. The medley consists of DEATH WIND, FIRE FIELD, and perhaps more...
  2. Princess Peach's Castle - A returning stage from Super Smash Bros. Melee. Watch out for Banzai Bill to come flying out of nowhere and explode. There are also red, yellow, and green switches you can press to make "!" Blocks appear. Try hitting them to get items!

July 25

  1. #42: R.O.B. - He has two powerful projectiles: Robo Beam and Gyro, along with a very effective recovery. The 1P color in the North American version of the game is a light gray, and the 2P is red and white, but this is reversed in the Japanese version. R.O.B.'s demo video

  1. #11: Captain Falcon - A fighter that possesses both speed and power! But in exchange, he is frequently left open. Being able to successfully land his neutral special, Falcon Punch, can greatly influence the battle in multiplayer matches. Captain Falcon's demo video

  1. #12: Jigglypuff - Jigglypuff can jump 5 times in the air and can move faster in the air than on the ground. Use Jigglypuff's great aerial ability to overwhelm your opponent! If you manage to land the down special Rest, you can powerfully launch your opponent. Jigglypuff's demo video

  1. Fake Smash Ball - This dangerous item looks like a Smash Ball but explodes when you break it. Take a closer look and you can see that the symbol's horizontal line is thicker...
  2. You can now listen to "Galaga Medley". This song, arranged by Yusuke Takahama, consists of 4 songs and sound effects from the game. It's like recreating the gameplay in sequence!
  3. Lylat Cruise - This stage rests on top of the spacecraft Pleiades. Since the craft tilts from side to side, it can affect the trajectory of ranged attacks as well your recovery distance.


August 1

  1. #30: Wario - Wario has unique attacks, like using his Wario Bike and releasing noxious gas. He can jump higher than normal by leaping from his bike, which comes in handy when recovering. For his Final Smash, he turns into Wario-Man and creates copies of himself for an all-out attack! Wario's demo video

  1. Assist Trophy: Rodin - Rodin gave Bayonetta her name. He summons a giant arm and unleashes a powerful blow, and sometimes he'll even give you a powerful weapon as he leaves.

August 5

  1. #4: Samus - With her Charge Shot, Missile, and Bomb, Samus has three different projectiles to keep her opponents in check from a distance. When fully charged up, her Charge Shot is quite powerful. For her Final Smash, she launches a wide laser beam that can be moved up and down! Samus' demo video

August 6

  1. Bomber - Hold the Bomber up with the A button and a massive explosion will occur in 1.5 seconds. You will take less damage by moving away from the center of the explosion, so if you are about to get caught in it, try to get away!

  6. #66: Simon Belmont - The protagonist of Castlevania. He uses his holy whip, Vampire Killer, to perform a smash attack with long reach. He also uses projectiles like an axe, holy water, and cross. Simon's demo video
  7. #67: King K.Rool - With long-distance special moves like the Blunderbuss, and counter moves like Stomach Attack, he is a versatile fighter. His Final Smash, Blast-O-Matic, was apparently a weapon created to destroy DK Island... King K.Rool's demo video

August 12

  1. #66ᵋ: Richter - Richter from the Castlevania series joins the battle as Simon's echo fighter! His basic attacks are the same as Simon's, but with subtle variations. In addition to that, his holy water is a different color. Richter's demo video

August 13

  1. Pokémon: Abra - Abra will ensnare a nearby fighter and teleport them to a random position on (or even off) the stage. Look out!

August 14

  1. You can now listen to "Gang-Plank Galleon," from the last boss battle in Donkey Kong Country. Arranged by ACE, this remix even includes a rap!
  2. Dracula's Castle - On this stage, various characters from throughout the series will appear as guests and you can get items by breaking the candles. Including new and classic tunes, this stage has 34 total tracks to listen to!

August 15

  1. #25ᵋ: Chrom - The protagonist of Fire Emblem Awakening joins the battle as Roy's echo fighter. His final smash is Awakening Aether. Like Aether in the original game, this move has Chrom charge toward his opponent, slashing with his sword. Chrom's demo video


  • The update on June 12th erroneously lists the Inkling as the 62nd character to join Smash Bros. when it should be the 64th.
  • The update on July 3rd mistakenly reads "You can now listen to "City Trial" the..." instead of "You can now listen to "City Trial" on the..."
    • This is also the case for the update on July 10th.
