Snorlax (カビゴン, Kabigon in Japanese language versions) is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise. It is a Poké Ball Pokémon that appears in all four Smash Bros. games, which is a rarity, because the only other known such Pokémon are Electrode*, Goldeen, Mew, and Charizard**.
*Electrode doesn't appear from a Poké Ball in Super Smash Bros., but rather as a stage hazard in Saffron City.
**Charizard appears in all four, it makes its debut as a playable character in Brawl instead of coming out of a Poké Ball, and returns as a playable character separate from Pokémon Trainer in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
Powers & Abilities
Snorlax is a huge, bipedal, dark blue-green Pokémon with a cream-colored face, belly, and feet. Its body is composed of mostly its belly, where most of its fat reserves accumulate. Its head is large, with small, pointed ears and two pointed teeth protruding from its lower jaw. It has large, hind feet with three claws and a circular brown paw pad, and its arms and five foreclaws are short.
Snorlax is often found in mountains and forests. It wakes up only to eat and seldom for exercises. It is not a picky eater, as its strong stomach allows it to eat even moldy food without feeling any ill effects. When hungry, it is not satisfied until it consumes 900 pounds of food. Snorlax is docile enough to let children and small Pokémon bounce on its large stomach. It evolves from Munchlax when leveled up with high friendship.

Snorlax uses Body Slam as its attack. Snorlax jumps in the air and disappears off the screen. Snorlax will then inflate itself and descend towards the bottom of the screen. Any character that makes contact with Snorlax will take damage. Snorlax also destroys certain things on a stage. It will destroy Items like Bob-ombs and Motion-sensor Bombs. If Snorlax gets hit by an attack that's strong enough before it jumps, it will jump diagonally. Snorlax's attack does not harm the summoner.

Snorlax returns in Melee with exactly the same functionality. However, it does not jump diagonally when attacked before jumping.
As a stage element
A giant balloon of Snorlax (in actuality the 3D model of Snorlax used in Pokémon Stadium for Nintendo 64) is one of the many floating and bending "platforms" that comprise the Poké Floats stage. The balloon's belly raises and lowers as if "breathing".
As a trophy
Snorlax features as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 100+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in the Trophy Lottery and throughout the various Single-player Regular Matches. It reads as follows:

- Snorlax love to sleep and love to eat: these portly Pokémon get grumpy if they don't get 880 pounds of food per day. After snacking out, they always nap. They have cast-iron stomachs and can eat moldy and even rotten food with no digestion problems. They are the heaviest Pokémon on record, weight in at over 1,000 pounds.
Note that this trophy description is anachronistic; following Melee, even heavier Pokémon were introduced, with the current record-holder for Pokémon weight being Groudon at 2,094 pounds (several glitch Pokémon, namely "Missingno." and "h Poké", are even heavier, weighing in at up to 6,099 pounds, but this is likely non-canon). It is now lighter than four other Pokémon (one of two forms) making it the sixth heaviest canon Pokémon including alternate forms.
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl
As a Poké Ball Pokémon
Snorlax returns in Brawl with exactly the same functionality, making it the only Poké Ball Pokémon other than Goldeen to appear in all three installments with an attack not changed or given to another Pokémon. Oddly enough, its baby pre-evolution (Munchlax) is also in Brawl.

- A Sleeping Pokémon. It's the ultimate loafer. Sometimes children like to play on top of its big belly. Once in a slumber, not even the hardest rain or the fiercest wind will wake it. Snorlax recovers health and restores its physical state by sleeping, and it proves daunting with its damaging Snore attack. Snorlax is the king of Sleeping Pokémon.

Trophy Description
This sleepy, Normal-type Pokemon is huge! It eats more than 900 lb. of food every day. Most of the time not spent eating is spent sleeping. That big, round body comes in handy when it's brought onto a Smash Bros. battlefield--the Body Slam attack will send anyone who gets hit flying into the air!
