Result: Failure
Reason: No real consensus was reached, but SMASH hasn't edited in a little over a month and a half. Oscuritaforze (talk) 22:56, December 6, 2014 (UTC)

Summarize why you want to/should have these rights:
With the next Smash games' releases right around the corner, the wiki will inevitably need more administrators to control the increased flow of traffic and edits. I believe that I would be a good user for the role of admin on Smashpedia. I'm known on here as TheSMASHFan or various other names for short, and I've been editing here for over a year, since August 2013. I have made over 1,000 individual edits to this wiki, and having administrator rights would give me many tools that could be used to benefit the wiki.
Having the administrator's tools would allow me to combat vandalism and spam on Smashpedia. With the ability to block users, vandals could be blocked quickly without causing too much trouble for the wiki. The protect tool could be used to protect important pages from being filled with vandalism or false information, or to prevent edit wars. In addition, I have also been participating in many of the administrators' leadership duties: I have moderated conflicts between users, enforced Smashpedia's policies and informed users of violations, and contributed ideas related to improving the wiki. With this experience in the leadership responsibilities of sysops, adminship would be very suitable for me.
After reading my RFA, I hope that you will support me in my request for adminship. As Smash for 3DS and Wii U releases and information comes in, I will help the rest of the staff to ensure that this wiki continues to grow and improve.
Thank you for reading! TheSMASHFan (talk) 00:00, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
Support
- Strong support — To be frank, SMASH should have been given admin rights here a long time ago. Oscuritaforze (talk) 04:59, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
Support SMASH does an excellent job enforcing rules and he seems to really love this wiki and would do anything for it. Good luck my man!Zmario 10:15, September 6, 2014 (UTC)- Super Support — Really, on the Wii U release, screenshots, character's debut image - as Robin one which says "Brings the Thunder" - will come out so fast that we should have more admins to add those images, even though i joined only in April and its my first time on an request for adminship. Oppose
- Too many admins We already have four admins (one we just added the other day!), a few rollbacks (one we just added the other day!), and a few chat mods. I think we are fine for now. Five admins is overboard especially since we just added a new one the other day. With four admins on, I'm 99% sure that we can stop and block any harmful users. TheUltraman (talk) 12:11, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
- dat hell is the idea to be admin you kidding right we alreldy have enough admins so we're done (sended by yamktoalid41:formerly knows as goddammitkp1)
- Opinion Change While I originally didn't care, I now think SMASH is no longer qualified to be an admin for the blatant reason that he hasn't contributed to this wiki in nearly two months. Even if he may return, he'll hardly be qualified because one of the main guidelines for applying for adminship is frequent wiki contributions, which SMASH is quite obviously lacking. Neutral
No Strong Feelings Either Way I do think he is qualified, but we do already have four admins. So I don't really care what happens. DerpyDoodle (talk) 11:51, September 6, 2014 (UTC)- Neutral leaning towards Oppose After reading other's votes and taking into consideration everything, I agree that there is already a good amount of admins on the Wiki. What I said earlier is true, you're a great user, but we really don't need any more admins at this time. Zmario 12:20, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
Additional comments
- For users arguing that "there are already enough admins": Blocking vandals and other harmful users is not the only thing that needs to be checked here; every edit needs to be checked to ensure the validity of the statement or source, and with hundreds or potentially thousands of new edits being made every day about the new games, more admins would help to control the flow of edits. In addition, if a qualified user became administrator here, it would only help the wiki and not harm it, and the wiki would benefit much less if the qualified user were not an admin. TheSMASHFan (talk) 14:12, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
- In addition, being able to block vandals is not the only part of being an administrator. Leadership, handling user conflicts, and enforcing policy violations are other major parts. TheSMASHFan (talk) 17:11, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
- I am of the opinion that four admins is not enough, especially given how close we are to SSB3DS's release. I know from experience on another wiki how much extra traffic a new release relating to the subject of a wiki can bring (examples: these three images and the difference between August/September and October 2013 here), so I'm not really sure if even five admins would be enough to keep track of everything. Oscuritaforze (talk) 19:09, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
- It occurs to me that I never outright said what I was trying to above, so I guess I should remedy that here. What I was trying to say is that we shouldn't have any reservations about adding capable/qualified users to the admin group given how close we are to an event which is likely going to cause a major spike in activity on the wiki. Oscuritaforze (talk) 05:53, September 10, 2014 (UTC)
- It would be better safe than sorry anyways; it's better to have a lot of admins who aren't doing as much than to have too little admins who can't keep track of all of the SSB3DS/Wii U edits quick enough without additional help. TheSMASHFan (talk) 04:04, September 7, 2014 (UTC)
- It's been almost 2 months since this has been edited. This thread should probably be closed. DerpyDoodle 19:25, November 16, 2014 (UTC)
- I'm inclined to agree that it's been long enough for this RfA to close, but I also don't think there's really enough of a consensus either way to determine how it should be closed. Oscuritaforze (talk) 21:35, November 16, 2014 (UTC)
- I changed my opinion to "oppose." So now we have two for, three against, and one neutral leaning toward against. While certainly not an ideal consensus, this thread has been going nowhere and it's probably about time for the majority to rule, especially considering where SMASH has been in the past two months.
