Super Smash Bros - Project M

The logo for Project M.

Project M Is a game mod made for Super Smash Bros. Brawl to more closely resemble Super Smash Bros. Melee (and to a lesser extent Super Smash Bros.). It gained popularity due to recreating most of the Melee mechanics and also adding new ones. Claiming to "fix Nintendo's mistakes", Project M is downloadable via SD card. It alters the graphics to look somewhat alike Melee as well while keeping Final Smashes.

The game mod went up to Version 3.6 before the project was terminated by the Project M team on December 1st, 2015.

For the most part, the characters stayed the same, with some exceptions. Samus and Zero Suit Samus were made into separate characters. Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard were also separated from the Pokémon Trainer. Most of the characters moves were also changed and altered. For instance, Wario charges forward instead of riding his bike. Some of the character's alternate costumes resembled other well-known characters. R.O.B. has a costume that makes him resemble the Virtual Boy, Wii and DS, Peach can become Shadow Queen, and Lucas can be the Masked Man in his general outfit.

Stages[]

Many of the stages from Brawl were replaced with stages from Melee (i.e. Fourside over New Pork City). Also, many of the elements of the stages that interfered with the gameplay were also changed (i.e. no Pokémon spawning in Saffron City). Also, Green Hill Zone was changed into an entirely new stage, consisting of a flat platform with a Ferris wheel like object. Three entirely new stages called Training Room, Bowser's Castle, and Delfino's Secret were added. Delfino's Secret replaced an original stage called Dracula's Castle due to copyrights. Metal Mario's Stage was also selectable through the stage selection screen, as opposed to being 1-Player mode exclusive, under the name Metal Cavern, where it was given a remastered HD look, along with other N64 stages.
