This is the list of known changes in version 1.1.3 of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

  • Buff Up throw's knockback and angle has been altered: 90 → 25 base, 80 growth → 155 growth, 70° → 82° angle.
    • Buff These changes re-purpose it into a combo starter, which can be performed even up to high percents.
    • Buff Its ending lag has been reduced: 68 frames → 61 frames.
    • Nerf Its looping hits deals less damage: 1% → 0.5%.
    • Notice The looping hit's hitlag multiplier has been reduced: 1x → 0.5x.
    • Buff Its final hit's knockback has been increased: 0 → 80 base, 100 → 200 growth.
  • Buff Flying Slam's grab to slam transition speed has been increased.
  • Buff All variations of Flying Slam now have invincibility frames before Bowser leaves the ground.
  • Buff All variations of Whirling Fortress can now grab ledges from behind.
Stock SSB4 charizard Charizard
  • Notice Both hitboxes on dash attack have altered angles: 70° → 50° (hitbox 0), 80° → 60° (hitbox 1).
  • Notice Up smash has some minor tweaks.
  • Buff All hitboxes on down smash has increased knockback growth: 76 → 79 (hitbox 0/1), 82 → 85 (hitbox 2/3).

  • Added as a playable character.
Stock SSB4 dark pit Dark Pit
  • Notice Electroshock/Electrocut Arm's launch angle has been altered (50 → 43).
  • Buff Grounded Electroshock Arm deals more damage: 11.5 → 12.
  • Buff Grounded Electroshock/Electrocut Arm's knockback growth has been increased: 60 → 67.
  • Nerf Grounded Electroshock/Electrocut Arm's base knockback has been reduced: 100 → 99.
  • Nerf Aerial Electroshock/Electrocut Arm's knockback growth has been reduced: 60 → 58.
Stock SSB4 ganondorf Ganondorf
  • Buff Down smash's second hit trajectory has been altered (130° → 50°), now pushing opponents away rather than towards Ganondorf.
    • Notice The attack now flips opponents.
  • Buff Neutral aerial's first hit has drastically reduced knockback, allowing it combo into the second hit more effectively, similar to Captain Falcon's.
    • Nerf The drastically reduced knockback on the first hit no longer makes it a finishing move off-stage or at high percents.
    • Nerf The first hit deals less damage: 12% → 7% (clean), 8% → 4.5% (late).
    • Nerf The second hit deals more damage: 10% → 12% (clean), 7% → 9% (late).
    • Buff The second hit has less startup: (20 frames → 17 frames).
    • Buff Its ending lag has been reduced: 45 frames → 42 frames.
  • Buff All aerial contain less landing lag: 18 → 17 (neutral), 23 → 22 (forward), 20 → 19 (back & up), 28 → 26 (down).
  • Buff Down aerial's hitbox shifted down two units, making it easier to hit opponents below him as well as making it easier to land the sourspot.
  • Buff Grounded, non-reversed Warlock Punch's super armor duration has been increased: (11-63 → 11-66).
    • Buff Grounded, reversed Warlock Punch now has super armor on frames 11-58.
  • Buff Grounded, reverse Warlock Blade (Neutral-2) now has super armor on frames 11-54.
  • Buff Grounded Flame Choke no longer has a blindspot.
  • Buff The looping hits of Dark Dive deals more damage: (1% → 1.2%).
  • Buff Dark Dive (throw) deals more damage: (7% → 9%).
    • Buff Its knockback growth has also been increased: (82 → 90).
Stock SSB4 greninja Greninja
  • Buff Forward smash's knockback growth has been increased: 99 → 101.
    • Buff The knockback growth of the sweetspot on the second hit has been increased: (103 → 104).
  • Buff Down smash's knockback growth has been increased: (90 → 92).
  • Buff The knockback growth of both strikes of Shadow Sneak/Strike has been increased: 102 → 104 (front), 101 → 103 (back).
  • Buff Shadow Dash's (Side-3) knockback growth has been increased: (90 → 92).

  • Buff Dashing speed has been increased: (1.50 → 1.568).
  • Buff Forward smash's (clean hit) knockback growth has been increased: 99 → 100 (clean), 66 → 67 (late).
  • Buff Up smash's knockback growth has been increased on all hits: 102 → 103 (clean), 96 → 97 (mid), 50 → 51 (late).
  • Buff Down smash's knockback growth has been increased: (108 → 109).
  • Buff Forward aerial's (third hit) knockback growth has been increased: (145 → 148).
  • Notice Forward aerial's hitlag modifier has been increased (1.0x → 1.2x), making it safer on shield but easier to DI on the final hit.
  • Buff Back aerial's knockback growth has been increased: 102 → 104 (clean), 110 → 112 (late).
  • Buff Up throw's knockback growth has been increased: (63 → 74).
  • Buff Various knockback growth, hitbox size, and duration increases for Hammer Flip and all of its variants.

  • Buff Forward smash's (first hit) knockback growth has been increased: (85 → 89).
  • Notice Down smash's (first hit) base knockback, knockback growth, and angle has been altered: 26 → 40 (base), 90 → 88 (growth), 75 → 78 (angle).
  • Buff Both hits of forward aerial deals more damage: 8% → 11% (first hit), 10% → 13% (second hit).
    • Buff The first hit's base knockback has been increased: 10 → 20.
    • Buff Both hit's knockback growth has been reduced: 132 → 130 (first hit), 105 → 100 (second hit).
  • Notice Down aerial no longer meteor smashes grounded opponents.
    • Notice The attack now has a weak hitbox that replaces the meteor hitbox on grounded opponents.
  • Buff Spin Attack and Shocking Spin's (side-2) ending lag has been reduced.

  • Buff Horizontal air speed, falling speed, fast falling speed, and walking speed have been increased.
  • Notice Aura Sphere's charge (including custom variants) knockback angle has been altered: (80° → 183°).
  • Nerf Aura Sphere's (including custom variants) knockback growth has been reduced: (100 → 93).
  • Nerf Aura Sphere's (charge; including custom variants) hitlag modifier has been reduced (1x → 10.78x), making it less safe on shield.

Mega Lucario

  • Buff Aura Sphere's (including custom variants) base knockback has been increased: (10 → 12).
  • Nerf Aura Sphere's (including custom variants) knockback growth has been reduced: (100 → 93).
  • Nerf Aura Sphere's (charge; including custom variants) hitlag modifier has been reduced (1x → 10.78x), making it less safe on shield.

  • Buff Forward tilt's hitbox size has been increased: 4.4 → 4.7.
    • Buff Its hitbox duration has been increased: 7-9 → 7-10.
  • Buff Neutral aerial's (looping hits) deals more damage: 1% → 2%.
  • Buff All grabs have sped up animations.
  • Buff Standing grab and dash grab had their ending lag decreased by 5 frames: 50/60 → 45/55.
  • Nerf PSI Magnet now heals half damage from absorbing teammate's projectiles.

  • Buff Both walking and dashing speed have been increased: 1.0 → 1.1 (walk), 1.696 → 1.9 (dash)
  • Buff Air speed has been increased: 1.15 → 1.25.
  • Buff Forward smash (sourspot) deals more damage: 15% → 16%.
    • Buff Its hitbox size has been increased: 2.0 → 3.0.
  • Buff Landing lag on all aerials has been reduced: 16 → 13 (neutral & up), 18 → 14 (forward), 21 → 17 (back), 22 → 18 (down).
  • Buff Forward aerial has less startup: 6 frames → 5 frames.
    • Buff Its range has also been increased due to the hitbox being placed forward one unit.
  • Buff Back aerial's x-axis offset has been modified: 5.1 → 5.5.
  • Buff Up aerial deals more damage: 7% → 9% (far), 9% → 10% (mid).
    • Buff The sizes on all hitboxes has been increased: 4.7 → 5.0 (hitbox 0), 3.9 → 4.5 (hitbox 1), 3.1 → 4.0 (hitbox 2).
    • Buff Its base knockback has been increased: 0 → 40.
    • Nerf Its knockback growth has been reduced: 100 → 97.
  • Buff Down aerial's hitbox duration has been increased: 2 frames → 4 frames.
    • Buff The attack has overall increased range as all hitboxes have been moved down one unit.
  • Notice Down throw's knockback trajectory has been altered: 69° → 74°.
  • Buff Shadow Ball has slightly increased in size.
    • Buff The move now causes less recoil.
    • Notice The projectile now has improved visuals.
  • Buff The grabbing parameters on Confusion has been increased.

  • Notice Down smash's (second hit) knockback angle has been altered: 130° → 50°.
    • Notice The second hit now flips opponents.
  • Nerf Absorbing Vortex now heals half damage from absorbing teammate's projectiles.

  • Nerf Oil Panic now deals halved damage from absorbed teammate's projectiles.

  • Buff Forward tilt's hitbox position tweaked, size increased: 4.0 → 5.0.
  • Buff The landing lag on all aerials has been reduced: 20 → 18 (neutral, forward, & up), 21 → 19 (back), 28 → 26 (down).
  • Buff Both hits of neutral aerial have bigger hitboxes: 4.0 → 5.0 (hitboxes 0/1), 3.0 → 5.0 (hitbox 2).
    • Notice The positioning on most hitboxes have been tweaked.
  • Notice Forward aerial's (Levin) hitbox positions has been tweaked.
    • Buff The hitbox size on the late hit has been increased: 1.5 → 2.5.
  • Buff Down aerial (Levin) deals more damage: 10% → 11% (early), 5% → 8% (late).
    • Buff The sizes of both hitboxes has been increased: 4.0 → 4.5.
    • Notice The angle of the non-spiking hitbox has been tweaked: 80° → 70°.
    • Nerf The transition from the early to middle hitboxes has been increased: 1 → 2 frames.
Stock SSB4 shulk Shulk
  • Buff Dash attack deals more damage: 11.0% → 11.5%.
  • Buff Both hitboxes of forward tilt deals more damage: 13.0%/11.5% → 13.5%/12.0%.
  • Buff Both early and late hitboxes of up tilt deals more damage: 8.0 % (early)/7.0% (late) → 8.5%/7.5%.
  • Buff Both hitboxes of down tilt deals more damage: 8.0%/7.0% → 8.5%/7.5%.
  • Buff The landing lag on all aerial attacks has been reduced: 12 → 10 (neutral), 18 → 16 (forward), 21 → 19 (back), 17 → 15 (up), 25 → 23 (down).
  • Buff Both hitboxes of neutral aerial deals more damage: 7.0%/8.0% → 7.5%/8.5%.
  • Buff Both hitboxes of forward aerial deals more damage: 7.5%/6.0% → 8.0%/6.5%.
  • Buff Both hitboxes of back aerial deals more damage: 12.0%/8.0% → 12.5%/8.5%.
  • Buff Both hits of up aerial deals more damage: 5.0% (hit 1) → 5.5%, 10.0/7.5 (hit 2) → 10.5/8.0.
  • Buff Both hits of down aerial deals more damage: 5.0%/7.0% (hit 1) → 6.0%/7.5%, 11.0%/10.0% (hit 2) → 11.5%/10.5%.
Stock SSB4 villager Villager
  • Nerf Pocketing and throwing a teammate's projectile now deals half damage.

Trivia

  • This is the first update to change the attributes of certain characters, while all previous updates focused on tweaking characters' moves.
