The Parasol is an item in Super Smash Bros. Melee, and as an enemy in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
In Super Smash Bros. Melee
The Parasol is a poor throwing weapon, as it will open shortly after being thrown, making it drift slowly towards the opponent, but it travels extremely far when thrown up or down as it doesn't open. The Parasol can not only be used as a weapon, but also as a personal parachute, reminiscent of the parasol from the Kirby series. The Parasol will automatically open if the player holding it is falling through the air, even after a third jump, greatly aiding horizontal recovery. In order to fall normally, the player must press Down on the Control Stick. This item can reduce the character's chance of being in a helpless state.
Trophy Description
The Parasol, which was originally used by Kirby, can be used as a weapon to bludgeon enemies. Even better is the fact that players can open it while airborne and float lazily back toward safe ground. It's incredibly useful in returning to the field of play after an opponent gets the better of you and sends you flying.
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
The Parasol returns as an enemy exclusive to Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS as it only appears in Smash Run. It can only be seen if a Parasol Waddle Dee is holding it. The Parasol allows a Parasol Waddle Dee to sway left and right from the sky until the Waddle Dee touches the floor. On land, a Parasol Waddle Dee will harmless walk around the area, jumping and floating down again from time to time. Any fighter who jumps on the Parasol, on land or in the air, bounces upwards, dealing no damage to the Waddle Dee nor the Parasol itself. If a Parasol Waddle Dee is defeated, the Parasol will fly upwards dealing rapid minor damage to fighters who touch it. It can also be defeated.

Trivia
- When Peach uses her Up Special Move, Peach Parasol, while holding the Parasol, her normal white parasol is replaced with this one.
- The parasol is one of six items in Melee to not make a return in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the other five items being the Barrel Cannon, Cloaking Device, Flipper, Egg, and Red Shell.
- The parasol is also the only battering item to not return from Melee in Brawl.
