Palkia(パルキア, Parukia) is a legendary Pokémon from the Pokémon universe.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl[]

Palkia appears as a stage Pokémon and a hazard on the Spear Pillar stage. Palkia appears whenever Spear Pillar has a purple hue.

Abilities used[]

  • Collapsing one of the three sections of the floor (left, middle, or right).
  • Creating a powerful beam over a portion of the stage vertically, or horizontally through the lower section of the stage.
  • Rotating the stage 180 degrees.
  • Flipping the stage sideways, like a mirror-image.
  • Decreasing gravity, making the characters jump higher and fall slower.
  • Altering the controls.

Trophy Description[]

A Spatial Pokémon. In the Sinnoh region, this Pokémon has been revered for many generations, much like Dialga. Dialga warps time, but Palkia has control over space. It lives between parallel dimensions and is known for its power, rumored to be able to warp space. It can use Spatial Rend to rip through the very space an enemy resides in, damaging the foe at the same time.

Pokémon Diamond/Pearl

In Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U[]

Palkia was confirmed to appear in 3DS/Wii U from a Poké Ball instead of being a background character like its appearance in Brawl. Upon being released, Palkia executes its trademark attack, Spacial Rend, which turns the stage upside down. It can also cause damage to characters who make physical contact with it. Palkia can be summoned from either a Poké Ball or a Master Ball.

Trophy Description[]

Stories surround this Legendary Water/Dragon-type Pokémon, saying that it has control over all of space. Its Spacial Rend attack will tear space and flip the screen upside down. When this happens, the directional controls of all the fighters will become flipped as well.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]

As a stage element[]

Palkia reprises its role as a stage hazard on the returning Spear Pillar stage. Spear Pillar now allows for any of the three Legendary Pokémon to appear each time, rather than being set for the whole match.

As a Poké Ball Pokémon[]

Palkia returns as a Poké Ball and Master Ball Pokémon, with the same behavior as 3DS/Wii U.

Palkia cannot be summoned on 3D Land, Arena Ferox, Balloon Fight, Brinstar, Dream Land GB, Golden Plains, Green Hill Zone, Jungle Japes, Mushroomy Kingdom, Mute City SNES, Paper Mario, PictoChat 2, Prism Tower, Reset Bomb Forest, Spear Pillar (for obvious reasons), Suzaku Castle, Tomodachi Life, Tortimer Island, WarioWare Inc., or Yoshi's Island.

Palkia's Spacial Rend will not be able to flip the stage upside down if a fighter is equipped with a spirit with Screen-Flip Immunity, though it will still remain on stage to damage any opponents who touch it.

As a spirit[]

Palkia also appears as an Ace-Level Grab Type Primary spirit which can be obtained via the Spirit Board or from the Vault Shop.

Palkia’s spirit battle is a regular battle at Spear Pillar against Mewtwo with the edicts that the controls will be reversed after some time. The Mewtwo puppet fighter is a reference to both Mewtwo and Palkia and its pink coloration references Palkia’s pink color scheme. The stage and the music playing during the battle (Battle! (Dialga/Palkia) / Spear Pillar) both represent the Spear Pillar where the player encounters Palkia in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Also, the Reversible Controls hazard references Palkia being able to control space.

During the spirit battle, only Palkia will appear in the background.
