By pressing the Special Move button, Luma will barrel ahead of Rosalina, and anyone in its way will be hit by it and take damage with strong knockback. The move can be charged and held indefinitely, and the longer it is charged the farther Luma will go. When Luma has stopped, it will remain in its location. This enables Rosalina to attack in two places at once and is good for setting up combos. When Luma is separated from Rosalina, Luma will have a yellow aura around it to indicate to players that the next time the neutral special is used, it will call Luma back. If no attack input is used after a certain amount of time of being separated from Rosalina, Luma will begin to go back to her automatically.
If the Special Move button is pressed again, the Luma will return to Rosalina. If Luma is smashed off the stage, it will respawn automatically after 13 (originally 8) seconds.
Kirby can copy Luma Shot using Inhale, but since Kirby cannot keep the Luma, all he can do is damage opponents by sending the Luma forward, after which the Luma will disappear, just like he does after copying Olimar's ability.

Luma Warp warps Luma forward. If Luma warps into an opponent's location, they will take 1% damage and be pushed back. The move lacks power, but is able to transport Luma forward incredibly quickly.
- Very fast
- Better for maneuvering Luma closer to an opponent without leaving Rosalina vulnerable while charging, since charging isn't required
- Unable to control distance Luma is sent at; requires good spacing
- Less damage
- Less range
Luma Warp is a custom variation that requires a bit of strategy in order to use it to its fullest capacity. The move sends Luma out very quickly, thus making it easy to get Luma closer to an opponent for an attack in little time. Since it sends Luma out so quickly, Rosalina is not left open to enemy attack while charging up Luma Shot since the move doesn't even charge up. The move always warps Luma a set distance forwards, so it is important to space Rosalina from the opponent strategically so that Luma is not warped too far from the opponent or warped with the opponent between Luma and Rosalina since Rosalina is then vulnerable. The move covers less range and only deals 1% damage if Luma even hits the opponent, which is a slim chance, though the amount of maneuverability the move grants to Luma is enough to balance out the weaknesses. Luma is able to close in on an opponent with incredible speed and then keep them spaced away from Rosalina; this can also give an extra boost in range to certain variations of the Star Bits side special. Luma can quickly be warped to the edge for some quick edge-guarding maneuvers, and since the move always warps a set distance a player that learns this distance can master the move easily; with Luma Shot, a player has to judge how long to charge the move up to launch Luma the distance they want them to go, but Luma Warp keeps it consistent. Overall Luma Warp is an excellent strategic move for maneuvering Luma around the stage with consistent results, though can take a bit of practice to master.
Power Luma ShotEdit
Power Luma Shot sends Luma spinning forward like a drill. It travels slowly but has serious power.
- More damage
- Hitboxes stay out for quite a while
- More launch power
- Charging up leaves Rosalina vulnerable
- Much slower
- Less range
- Luma cannot attack or move while flying forwards
The Power Luma Shot is a much slower variation of the Luma Shot that has some drawbacks that can be harmful to Rosalina players that rely heavily on Luma but reaps big rewards for players that want more damage and power from the attack. The move deals more damage and has greater launch power. The move covers less range and Luma is moving quite slowly, making it poor for sending Luma out to attack opponents from afar. The hitboxes last for quite a while so an opponent could be hit by Luma multiple times if they were dumb enough to just keep running into the attack. The move requires charging up in order to get more damage and range out of it and while this can leave Rosalina vulnerable, the charging time doesn't seem to be too different from that of the regular Luma Shot. Instead, this move is mainly meant to be used as an attack rather than as a method of sending Luma out. Since Luma stays within the attacking position what with the hitboxes lasting for so long, Luma is unable to move or attack while moving forwards, and while the same is true for the regular Luma Shot, the regular Luma Shot sends Luma out much farther and faster allowing Luma to quickly act. With this move Luma can be sent hurtling out and be unable to attack opponents or move back to Rosalina for quite some time meaning that Rosalina will have to fend off enemies by herself until the move finally ends. For more casual Rosalina players this move can be good for putting on a lot of damage to opponents, but for more hardcore Rosalina mains they may want to stick with Luma Shot or Luma Warp.
