Infantry & Tanks is an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, taken from the Advance Wars series'. They form the bulk of the player's fighting force in every game in which they appear. They were first confirmed as an Assist Trophy in a gameplay video from Nintendo, but were later confirmed on March 14th, 2008 on the Smash Bros. DOJO!!. They returned as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl[]

As an Assist Trophy[]

Infantry & Tanks is one of six Assist Trophies that needs to be unlocked before it can be used. Upon being unleashed from the trophy, GBA sprites of Soldiers and Tanks will emerge, shooting bullets and missiles, which will damage any opposing players. While the soldiers and tanks are marching around, an air-raid siren will sound. Much like Excitebikes and Lakitu & Spinies, this Assist Trophy is represented by actual sprites from their original game.

How to Unlock[]

Play a total of 300 matches of Brawls or related modes.

Trophy Description[]

Infantry and Tanks

The Infantry and Tanks Trophy

Units first introduced in Famicom Wars, where they fight battles against enemy forces. Infantry are the least expensive to deploy of all units. They're not too strong, but they move well and can capture property. There are two tank types: tank A, which is expensive but has good mobility and firepower, and tank B which is cheaper but can change battles with sheer numbers.

  • Famicom Wars (Japan Only)
  • Advance Wars

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U[]

Infantry & Tanks return as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. It does not have to be unlocked. The Infantry & Tanks trophy is changed, with the Headquarters being removed. The infantry and the tank also face the opposite direction they did in the Brawl trophy.

As an Assist Trophy[]

The Infantry & Tanks Assist Trophy remains the same as it was in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, with the infantry shooting guns and the tanks firing canons at opponents. The air-raid siren still sounds, and the original sprites are still used.

Trophy Description[]

Infantry and tanks

The Infantry & Tanks trophy as it appears in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS

Two units from the Advance Wars series, infantry are best for capturing bases and tanks for fighting the enemy. If summoned, these two form up on the player who activated them. Don't underestimate them just 'cause they're pixels-the infantry's gun and tank's cannon are formidable.

  • Famicom - Famicom Wars (Japan)

Trivia[]

  • These particular units are members of the Orange Star army, which has been the main force of the series since Advance Wars on the GBA.
  • Although the Assist Trophy is in sprite form, the bullets from the tanks are in 3-D form.
  • Despite a Headquarters building being prominently featured in the Infantry & Tanks design on the DOJO!! website and even their in-game Trophy, the HQ never appears when the characters are actually summoned during a match.
