Glire (ガルファイア, Galfire in Japan) is an enemy from the Subspace Emissary mode of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It appears as a round machine (wheel, according to the trophy) with a central eye. Glires move around by rolling on floors, walls, and ceilings, although they will fall down if they flinch. When a Fighter approaches, Glires will pause, open up their shell, and launch fire out of their body. This attack only hits once, so shielding it allows a large lag time in which to attack them. Like flame Jyks, Glires appear in caverns and ruins.

Trophy Description[]

Glire Trophy

An enemy shaped like a tire. It's protected by three black shells, but they're not so hard as to be impenetrable. The outermost shell is covered in mucus that lets it stick to surfaces as it rolls along walls and ceilings. The eye in its center is creepy. When it spots the player, it stops, sheds its outer layers, and spouts fire from its inner recesses.

In Super Smash Bros. for 3DS[]

Glires appear as enemies in Smash Run. They essentially act the same as they did in Brawl.

Trophy Description[]

This rotating enemy will follow the terrain. The red one is called Glire. Should a fighter come too close, a blast of fire will erupt from Glire, damaging nearby foes. Glire has high stamina compared to Glice and Glunder, but it's very slow. It's especially vulnerable to ice attacks!

Trivia[]

  • Glires are similar to Flamers from the Kirby series as they move around the border of a platform and use fire-based attacks to hurt the player.
  • As a trophy, the Glire is the only one of its family that doesn't separate into the stretched form, which shows its element.
  • Lucas, Ness, and Mr. Game and Watch can absorb the fire attack similar to the Fire Flower item.
