The Fish is a hazard from the Balloon Fight series. It appears as a stage hazard on the Summit stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the Balloon Fight stage in Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl[]
The Fish is a hazard on the Summit. It will pop out of the sea to eat any character that stays in the water at the bottom of the stage for too long. The fish will only appear when there is water around the base of the stage, not when the stage is at the top of the mountain, or falling, or rising. If the fish swallows a character, it will dive underwater again, meaning that character will be carried through the lower blast line and KO'd. The fish's tail is also capable of hurting characters, dealing 15% damage and giving significant vertical knockback. The fish can eat any number of characters in a single appearance, but it will always follow a set arc and will go after whichever character has been in the water the longest. If swallowed, there is no way to escape, but there is a small window of time in which a character can get out of the fish's path. Otherwise, the character is certain to lose a stock.
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U[]
The Fish returns as a stage hazard for a completely different stage, Balloon Fight, which happens to be from its home universe. It is very different from the Summit version, as most notably it now appears on its 8-bit form, in keeping with the Balloon Fight stage graphics. It hides in the water in the center of the stage, much like it did in the water at Summit, and will attack any players who touch the water and attempt to drag them down. However, unlike its Summit version, it is much easier to escape from the fish.
Trivia[]
