The All-Star Rest Area is a stage in Melee and Brawl, which cannot be unlocked, and is only playable in the All-Star and Boss Battles modes, the latter only appearing in SSBB. It contains a teleporter which brings players to the next level, and also has up to three (or five if playing in Co-Op Mode) Heart Containers which heal all of the player's damage, instead of the usual 100%. The only way to access the stage for a match, is through the use of hacking devices.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee[]

The Rest Station in Melee

The Melee version of the teleporter is a sort of hybrid between the Super Smash Bros. universe and the Kirby universe. The music and a few other elements of the stage are borrowed from Kirby games, but the rest of the stage is completely original. The area consists of a path winding through what appears to be a lightly forested park. A resting area with a bench and fountain, complete with large lights, can be seen in the background.

Occasionally, after having beaten 3 All-Star matches, the player may find trophies in this stage off to the sides. Trophies of defeated characters sit on the ground in the background while portraits of upcoming opponents float above them.

It is available through hacking, but it is nearly impossible to KO, requiring a powerful hit with high percentage to the top left corner of the screen.

If a player enters the teleporter after picking up one of the Heart Containers, their damage will remain at the percentage it was at when they entered, regardless of whether or not the player has finished healing. The player should wait until their damage is reduced to 0% before entering the teleporter. This problem was fixed in Brawl.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl[]

The Rest Station in Brawl

The All-Star Rest Area also appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl in the All-Star and Boss Battles modes as well. In Brawl, it has metamorphosed into a dimly lit cave, where light shines down onto the teleporter from a hole in the ceiling. There are two kinds of flowers in this cave: a small one resembling a clover whose bloom glows white under the character portraits; and a large flower, resembling either an orchid or a lily, glowing a translucent indigo on the right wall, above the Heart Containers. Note that playing All-Star or Boss Battles with two players will result in there being 5 Heart Containers instead of 3.

Like its Melee counterpart, it can be played through hacking, but once a player goes into the teleporter, the stage goes pitch black. Mr. Game & Watch's icon will always be in the background when hacked (because he is the first to be fought in All-Star mode), despite the fact that that's not possible in actual gameplay, since there is not a rest area before the first stage in All-Star. No one can be KO'd by going past the blast lines either because the stage lacks them or is completely enclosed. The Heart Containers can be used.

The Smash 3DS All-Star Rest Area during the night-time.

In Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, the All-Star Rest Area appears to be located on one of the floating islands just like Battlefield, since the very same rock spires and sea of clouds seen in the background of the aforementioned stage can also be seen in the background here. There also appears to be a floating island in the background that looks very similar to Battlefield.

The main area consists of a cobblestone floor surrounded by ancient stone ruins. Some of these buildings bear the Smash Bros. logo. The Smash Bros. logo is also seen on the floor in the center of the room. Located behind this is a stone gate or door of some sort that appears to have once had magical properties of some kind. Displayed on this gate are the years in which the current combatants were created. Just to the left of the Smash logo on the floor is a purple portal that seems to be coming from a mirror. Located on each side of the portal are holographic portraits of the fighters for the level. Some trees are seen growing in and around the ruined buildings as well.

A staircase is located to the left of the Smash logo on the floor. The player and any trophies or custom parts are spawned between this staircase and the portal. On the right side of the portal are four healing items arranged in a row; a Maxim Tomato, a Fairy Bottle, and two Heart Containers.

In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U[]

To be added.

Trivia[]

  • When Charizard's Rock Smash is used in the Rest Area, it uses a whitish chunk of rock that looks like a chunk of ice, rather than the usual plain brown boulder.
  • A random trophy reward between matches will be a question mark in Melee if the game is paused before it is picked up, presumably to prevent players from guessing what a new trophy is from looking in closer detail. This does not work in Brawl.
  • Diddy Kong can actually injure himself in this area by using his Rocketbarrel Boost to launch high into the hole in the ceiling. This will inflict 5% damage.
  • The Melee version of this stage may have been playable in VS. in earlier versions of the game as the intro has a scene in which Samus and Ice Climbers are seen together in this stage.
