Agility (こうそくいどう High Speed Movement) is Pichu's Up Special Move. When performed, Pichu will make a quick teleport-like action in any direction. Inputting another direction during this first teleport allows Pichu to immediately perform a second teleport upon finishing the first.

Overview[]

Unlike Pikachu's Quick Attack, any enemy caught at the mid or end point of these teleports will not be dealt any damage, but Pichu will be dealt 1% damage for the first teleport, and 3% if it uses the second teleport.

Agility has 1 frame of lag if used correctly, making it the most lagless recovery move in Melee, but if messed up, it will have 14 frames of lag. This allows to quickly jump and use the move, then inputting another attack.

Origin[]

Agility HGSS

A Dodrio uses Agility to raise its Speed stat.

In the main series of Pokémon games, Agility is a Psychic-type move that raises the user's Speed by two levels. Similar to how its used in Super Smash Bros., Agility does not damage the opponent. However it won't damage the user. Though this is attributed to Pichu's ability to damage itself when using it's Special Moves which is unique to Smash Bros.

Trivia[]

  • Agility and Teleport are the only attacks in Melee to have no direct effect on opponents.
  • In the Pokémon RPG's, Agility is a Psychic-type attack. In the games, it states that Pichu can only hurt itself by using Electric-type attacks. The same error goes with Skull Bash.
  • Agility's inability to do damage is likely reminiscent of the Pokémon games, wherein it is also a non-damaging attack.
  • Agility cannot be learned by Pichu alone, but it can learn it if it evolves before or right after it reaches the level it would learn the move (in Generation II, level 33).
